Located in northern Tanzania, Tarangire National Park is a hidden gem known for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and an abundance of wildlife.

Covering approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles), the park is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as a vital water source, attracting a high concentration of animals, especially during the dry season.

Climate

Tarangire has a warm and tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F).

It experiences two main seasons:

Dry Season (June – October):

Best for game viewing as animals gather near the Tarangire River.

Rainy Season (November – May):

Lush landscapes and excellent for birdwatching, though some roads may be muddy.

Best Time to Visit

June to October

– The dry season offers incredible wildlife sightings, including large elephant herds.

November to May

– Best for birdwatching, with migratory birds and beautiful green scenery.

January to February

– A good time for baby animals as many species give birth.
