Lake Manyara National Park

Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park in northern Tanzania is a stunning, diverse wildlife reserve. Known for its picturesque landscapes, the park offers a combination of lakefront views, lush forests, and savannah.

The park is especially famous for its tree-climbing lions, and it’s home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and an abundance of birdlife, particularly flamingos that gather along the shore of Lake Manyara.

Climate

Lake Manyara has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F) throughout the year. The park experiences two distinct rainy seasons: long rains from March to May, and short rains from November to December. The dry season, from June to October, is the best time to visit for wildlife viewing, when animals congregate around water sources and the landscape is more accessible.

Best Time to Visit

June to October

– The dry season is ideal for game viewing, as animals gather around the lake and other water sources. This is also the best time for birdwatching.

November to December

– The short rains bring lush landscapes and fewer crowds, offering great opportunities for photography and more relaxed game drives.

March to May

–The green season is less crowded, offering lush scenery and a peaceful safari experience, although some roads may be difficult to navigate due to rainfall.
