Ngorongoro Crater

Located in southern Kenya, near the Tanzania border, Amboseli National Park is famous for its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.

Ngorongoro Crater

Located in northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most breathtaking and unique safari destinations in the world. As the largest intact volcanic caldera, it offers a natural enclosure for a high concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places to see the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino).

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” due to its stunning scenery and rich biodiversity.

Climate

Ngorongoro has a mild climate year-round, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F). The crater rim, sitting at an altitude of over 2,200 meters (7,200 feet), can be chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings.

The area experiences two rainy seasons:

Long rains (March to May)

– More rainfall, but lush green landscapes and fewer crowds.

Short rains (November to December)

– Brief showers, but still excellent for wildlife viewing.

Dry season (June to October)

– The best time for game viewing as animals gather around water sources.

Best Time to Visit

June to October

– Best for wildlife viewing, as the grass is shorter, making it easier to spot animals.

January to February

– Great for calving season, when thousands of wildebeest and zebra give birth, attracting predators.

March to May

– Lush green landscapes with fewer tourists, ideal for photography.
