Located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, near Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate National Park is famous for its dramatic landscapes, towering cliffs, and geothermal activity.

Unlike most parks, visitors can walk, cycle, or rock climb among zebras, giraffes, and antelopes, making it one of Kenya’s most unique safari destinations. The park also inspired the landscapes in Disney’s The Lion King!

Climate

Hell’s Gate has a moderate climate, with warm days and cool nights. The park experiences two dry seasons (June–October and January–February) and two wet seasons (March–May and November–December), with occasional showers.

Best Time to Visit

June to October & January to February

– Ideal for hiking, cycling, and game viewing.

March to May & November to December

– Lush landscapes with fewer visitors, though some trails may be slippery.
